HaloWC 2018 Orlando Open: Preview
The first LAN-event of the new Halo competitive season begins just in few hours! This weekend Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida will host a $50,000 event with more than a hundred teams from all over the world.
The competition will be held between February 16th and February 18th and will feature two stages. The first stage is the open double-elimination bracket with 96 teams from all over the world competing in best-of-three and best-of-five series. Top four teams will make it to the next stage – the group stage – where they will face 12 teams invited to this stage based on the amount of qualification points they earned throughout the season. The following teams will participate in the group stage:
- North America: Splyce, OpTic Gaming, Team EnVyUs, Team Reciprocity, Mentality Esports, Renegades, Str8 Rippin, Oxygen Supremacy
- Europe: Vexed Gaming, Team Infused
- Australia: Mindfreak
- 4 teams from open bracket

While this time the teams won’t be able to qualify for the World Championship, they will compete for a good amount of qualification points that will affect their position in their regions. The prize pool and qualification points will be distributed among the participating teams as can be seen below:
