Evil Geniuses Are the Champions of StarSeries & i-League CS:GO Season 8
Evil Geniuses have become the champions of StarSeries & i-League CS:GO Season 8. In the event’s grand finals they outplayed Fnatic at both Dust II (16:12) and Mirage (16:9), finishing the series with the 2-0 score and claiming $250,000 of prize money.
Evil Geniuses started the competition by placing second in Group B, securing their place in the upper bracket. Later in playoffs they outplayed Renegades (2-0) in the semifinals and Fnatic (2-1) in the winners’ finals.
StarSeries & i-League CS:GO Season 8 was held on November 21st-27th in Belek, Turkey. During the group stage, 16 teams competed in two GSL groups, with top two teams advancing to the elimination stage. As opposed to most other CS:GO events, StarSeries Season 8 featured a double-elimination format, where all series were best-of-three.
The current Evil Geniuses CS:GO roster joined the North American organization last month. The team debuted under the new banner by placing first at ESL One: New York 2019, and later finished 13-16th at DreamHack Masters Malmo 2019. The team also emerged victorious at ESL Pro League Season 10 Americas and ECS Season 8 NA: Series 3.
